Sonja Elaine Jenkins, 72, of Baxter, passed away Sept. 23, 2024, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center, while surrounded by family.
Born Oct. 15, 1951, in Romulus, Michigan, she was the daughter of Edd Swindell and Ida Mae Goodwin Swindell.
In addition to her parents, Sonja was preceded in death by her birth mother, Sallie Sirry, and sister, Laura Valleroy.
Sonja is remembered for her love of everyone, especially her grandbabies. She loved her years of working in the Alzheimer’s unit at Life Care Center of Sparta. In her later years, Sonja loved to watch Jeopardy with her grandbabies, playing Words with Friends, and leaving sweet comments on everyone’s Facebook posts. She will be dearly missed by all those that knew her.
Survivors include her daughter, Maleigha (Mickey) Greene, of Sparta; son, Chad Jenkins, of Baxter; granddaughters, Michaela (Austin) Haney, Mackenzie (Cody) Price, of Sparta; great-granddaughters, Addalynn and Anika Haney; and four-legged companion, Toby.
Funeral service was 1 p.m., Sept 25, 2024, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Cemetery. Bro. Stone Stewart officiated.
Pallbearers were Austin Haney, Cody Price, Trenton Mooneyham, Aaron Light, David Pruitt, Shane Rittenberry, and Jason Greene.
Oak Lawn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
