A select group of students from White County High School traveled to Belmont University to compete at the Middle Tennessee Science and Engineering Fair, also known as MTSEF, on March 21. This event was incredibly competitive with projects from various schools across the middle Tennessee area. Alivia Hart (11th) placed third in her division of Animal Sciences, while Breanna Powell (12th) placed 2nd for the Chemours Engineering Award earning her a $250 prize and a plaque.
Wesley Martin, sponsor for the students and their projects, said, “Our department is beyond proud of these students for not only rising to the challenge, but for also succeeding at one of the most competitive science and engineering fairs in Tennessee. It was an incredible experience for them to showcase their research, meet with students from various backgrounds, and contribute in our continuous pursuit of furthering interests in the sciences at WCHS.”
Students will have another opportunity to compete in the regional Cumberland Plateau Science and Engineering Fair hosted at Tennessee Tech University, on April 4.
