The Biz Foundry to host free business startup programs

Posted

Beginning June 6, 2022 The Biz Foundry – the Upper Cumberland’s 501(c) 3, not-for-profit Entrepreneur Center based in Cookeville, will offer a four-week series of classes, Start Up Your Startup, for those interested in starting a new business.

In eight bi-weekly Monday and Thursday evening sessions, participants will refine and develop their business ideas, get expert advice from local legal, accounting, marketing and insurance experts, and learn to tell their story and attract talent, vendors, customers, and maybe even some investors.

Facilitated by The Biz Foundry’s Marketing Director and Program Coordinator, Jess Lewis, a seasoned business and startup veteran, classes will be heavily based on hands-on exercises, group discussions, and start-up checklist activities. Participants will also be expected to complete weekly homework assignments designed to validate their assumptions, and refine their business ideas.

Classes will run Mondays and Thursdays, June 6-30, hosted at The Biz Foundry’s co-working space at 21 N. Main St., in Sparta, 5:30-7 p.m. Spaces in the program are limited, and, thanks to a generous grant from White County, the program is free for all White County residents. Those who are not residents of White County are still welcome to apply, and the program fee is $149.

In addition to the Start Up Your Startup program, The Biz Foundry is also hosting the Etsy Entrepreneurship Program to help local makers turn their passion into a business. This program will run May 14 and May 15, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. The Etsy Entrepreneurship Program is also free to White County residents thanks to the same grant and just $50 for those not residents of White County.
