Thomas Riley Simmons, 91, of Sparta, passed away April 28, 2023, at his residence, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Simmons was born May 10, 1931, in Sparta, to George and Ora Green Simmons.
He retired from General Motors and was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. Most of all, he enjoyed raising beagle hounds. They were all field-trialed and ready to hunt. He was fortunate to be able to raise them until the last few years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Blanche White Simmons, who died March 14, 2022; sister, Mary Crump; and brothers, Arliss, Jack and Charles Simmons.
Surviving family members include his daughter, Pam Isom and husband Chris, of Sparta; grandchildren, Mary Beth Isom, Jessica Isom, both of Sparta; great-grandchildren, Rylee Williams, Ryker Williams; two sisters, Elizabeth Lamson, of Cookeville, Shirley Taylor and husband Lonnie, of McMinnville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was 1 p.m., May 2, 2023, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Cemetery.
Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
