Threat of mass violence on school property increases to Class E felony

As enacted, effective July 1, 2024, increases the penalty for the offense of threatening to commit an act of mass violence on school property or at a school-related activity from a Class A misdemeanor to a Class E felony. - Amends TCA Title 39.

ON MARCH 25, 2024, THE HOUSE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED HOUSE BILL 2198, AS AMENDED.

AMENDMENT #1 provides that the law regarding a threat of mass violence on school property or at a school related activity does not apply to a person with an intellectual disability.
