Congratulations to the Upper Cumberland Motorcycle Training Program, which recently received the state’s highest award for outstanding motorcycle safety and training at the Tennessee Motorcycle Rider’s Education Program UPDATE event, on Jan.18, 2025.

This Sparta-based program is a cornerstone of motorcycle safety education across the Upper Cumberland region, offering comprehensive rider training at Tennessee Tech University, in Cookeville, and Glenn Martin Elementary School, in Crossville.

This year, UCMT has even more to celebrate:

  • Tennessee Gold Standard Awards

Coaches Asa Greenwell and Jerry Hill were each honored with the prestigious TN Gold Standard Award, recognizing their consistent professionalism, dedication, and excellence in teaching. Their contributions have enhanced UCMT’s reputation as a leader in motorcycle safety.

  • RiderCoach of the Year Award

Coach Evan James received the Miranda Flowers RiderCoach of the Year Award for his mentorship, professionalism, and dedication to making motorcycling safer. Evan’s leadership and ability to inspire others have set a statewide standard for excellence.

  • MREP Site of the Year

UCMT was named MREP Site of the Year, a recognition of the team’s hard work, professionalism, and commitment to rider education. Their coaches are proud to make a difference in the world of motorcycle safety and remain deeply grateful to their community for its support.

A special thank-you was extended to the MREP staff and all TN MSF coaches for their passion and hard work in building a safer motorcycling community.

The Upper Cumberland program offers a comprehensive two-day course on two-wheel and three-wheel motorcycles, as well as advanced classes for experienced riders. Thanks to the incredible support of Mid-State Motorsports, students train on brand-new, state-of-the-art motorcycles that ensure a safe, reliable, and enjoyable learning experience. Upon successfully completing the course, graduates receive a certificate that allows them to obtain their motorcycle license without additional DMV testing.

In partnership with Tennessee Tech, Glenn Martin Elementary, and Mid-State Motorsports, UCMT hosts classes every weekend from March through November, ensuring ample opportunities for riders to gain valuable skills.
