Phillip Anthony Johnson, age 66, of Sparta, Tennessee, passed away at his residence on May 25, 2026, and went home to be with the Lord. Phillip was born on September 16th, 1959, to Melvin and Mable Rutherford Johnson in Sparta, Tennessee. On February 14th, 2003, he married his soulmate, Sandra Johnson. He worked as a former supervisor at ECMD.

Phillip was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and loyal friend. His world revolved around the people he loved most — his wife, his children, and his grandchildren, who brought endless joy and meaning to his life. His guidance and presence shaped the lives of those closest to him, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family for generations to come.

He found happiness in life’s simple and meaningful moments: sitting with a hot cup of coffee, spending quiet time at home, loving on his two dogs, and sharing stories and laughter with family. Though there are no words strong enough for the sorrow of losing someone so deeply loved, we hold tightly to God’s promise of eternal life and peace. We take comfort in knowing our earthly father now sits with our Heavenly Father.

Matthew 25:21 “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Phillip is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin L. Johnson and Mable Johnson. His in-laws, Isaac and Beulah Neal; His sisters, Sally Martha Denton, and his brothers: Kenneth Johnson, Paul Johnson, and Thomas Johnson

He is survived by his wife: Sandra Johnson; his children: Ashley Nolan and Robert, Tianisha Johnson, Trevathan Johnson, Jessika and Austin McCormack; his grandchildren: Anthony Jenkins, Tommy Jenkins, Bently Jenkins, Aurora Cook, Cannon McCormack, Colt McCormack; his brothers: Robert Johnson, Mike Johnson, James Johnson, David Johnson, Darryl Johnson, Richard Johnson, Roger Johnson; his nephew he loved like a son Rodney Johnson; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

The family will be having a celebration of life at a later time. We welcome anyone who wishes to honor and celebrate his life.
