Van Buren County School District receives No Kid Hungry grant to help feed children

As part of No Kid Hungry’s continuing effort to ensure all children in Van Buren County, Tennessee, remain nourished and healthy, Van Buren County School District has received $22,150 in grant funding to help feed more children in the community.

“No child should have to struggle with an empty stomach or stress about when they will eat again. This grant will help reach more kids with the food they need to grow up healthy, educated and strong,” said Marissa Spady, Field Manager for the No Kid Hungry Campaign.

This grant will help to end fight childhood hunger in Van Buren County High School by:

  • Ensuring maximum student participation and providing healthy meals.
  • Promoting awareness of availability of free and reduced meals to students and families.
  • Promoting and supporting enrollment of SNAP, WIC, and Pandemic-EBT programs.
  • Supporting partnerships with local community organizations to increase access to meal programs.

 About Van Buren County School District: 784 Students are currently fed by the Van Buren County Schools Nutrition Department in grades PreK-12th grade. All 784 students in the Van Buren County School District receive free breakfast and lunch.
