WCHS Academic Spotlight

Posted

While she would rather be outside camping, fishing, or tending to animals than almost anything else, White County High School senior Shannen Kilgore has not let her passion for all things outdoors deter her from being one of her class’s outstanding academic students, to which her membership in the school’s academic-based BETA club is a testament.

“Shannen has an amazing work ethic.  She is always working and striving to succeed,” Kim Eller, one of White County High School’s faculty members said about the senior. “She is intelligent, organized, and a very personable young lady.”

Kilgore intends to take her passion and mix it with her what she lists as some of her strongest personality traits: being a hard worker and a hands-on problem solver and attend Tennessee Technological University next year as she pursues a career in Veterinarian Science.

Kilgore said she is a firm believer that mindset is one of the most important factors in deciding just how far one will go in life. The White County senior said her favorite quote is one from Henry Ford: Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.

Kilgore thinks she can – and no one is going to doubt her.

“Shannen will be successful in life because she is dedicated to her own personal growth and success,” Eller said about Kilgore’s determination to be successful, saying she has no doubts that she will do anything she sets her mind to. “It has been a joy to have Shannen as a student, FFA member, and Work Based Learning intern.”
