On Nov. 1, 2024, the White County High School JROTC Rifle Team demonstrated their growing skills at their second tournament of the season, held at Harpeth Hall High School, in Nashville. Competing against 12 teams, White County secured an impressive third place overall finish, marking a significant achievement for the young team.
Ashton Parks stood out in the competition as he finished fifth among 54 shooters. After the competition, Parks, who is also the team’s captain, expressed enthusiasm about not just his own finish but the team’s performance as a whole.
“Our team continues to improve, and it is exciting that we were able to make the podium in only our second event of the year,” Parks said.
Another notable performer was Carson McLeod, who achieved the largest increase in scoring over the team’s first two competitions.
“I’m excited that I did so well,” McLeod said. “But most importantly, I am proud I was able to help our team finish third.”
Looking ahead, White County High School’s JROTC Rifle Team is gearing up for two more events this month, both of which could pave the way for qualification for the Southeastern Regionals scheduled for February, in Alabama.
