White County High School Prepares for Homecoming Week

Posted

White County High School will be celebrating football homecoming next week, September 28-October 2. This year's theme is "Warriors Assemble!" inspired by the Marvel universe. We are excited for this theme because it is highly recognizable and appeals to a wide range of students. Marvel has been a major part of pop culture for years now, meaning students are already familiar with many of its characters, movies, and storylines; even students who are not devoted Marvel fans are likely to recognize Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor. The Marvel universe includes so many different characters and settings, so students will have plenty of opportunities for creative dress-up days, class competitions, door decorations, parade floats, and pep rally games!

Student Council President, Tori Mabe, had the following to say about the theme: "This year’s Homecoming theme, 'Warriors Assemble!' was a fan favorite as it was voted on by the Student Council, then was ultimately chosen as our theme by the student body as a whole. I think this theme is very versatile, easy to participate in, and has gained a lot of popularity this school year! The phrase 'Warriors Assemble!' stems from the Marvel movie series, but to me it also means that WCHS is coming together to celebrate the school with fun activities and many moments that we get to share all together. Throughout my 4 years of being at WCHS, I have needed a hero, I have been a hero, and have certainly had a community that assembled together to support me." Several activities are planned for the week during school, including a volleyball tournament and dodgeball tournament.

To encourage more community participation, powderpuff football and cheerleading will take place Wednesday at 5 pm. The event is being sponsored by and will serve as a fundraiser for our Warriorette flag football team; admission will be $5. WCHS hopes the community will come out and watch the games and support flag football. The CTE department will be hosting their annual Drive Your Tractor to School event on Thursday with a car and tractor show scheduled for that afternoon.

The homecoming parade will be Thursday evening beginning at 5:30 pm. This year's Grand Marshal is Martha Jane (Swindell) Clark, who is a WCHS graduate of the class of 1963. The route for this year's parade is as follows: The parade will start at the WCHS front parking lot and go up Breeding Drive; it will then go right on North Spring Street, right on Bockman Way, right on Hampton Drive, right on Polk Street, left on Allen Drive, and finally end where it began at the WCHS front parking lot. Homecoming festivities will end with the football game and halftime ceremony. We can’t wait to see everyone come together and cheer on the Warriors in the big game against the Warren County Pioneers!

During halftime, WCHS will recognize senior superlatives, clubs, and sports, and present the 2026 homecoming court. Homecoming queen, Teagan Rittenberry, says, "I am so excited and honored to have been selected as WCHS Homecoming Queen this year. It means so much to me to be chosen to represent our school and our student body. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity and for everyone who supported and encouraged me throughout the process. Being Homecoming Queen is something I will always cherish and remember!" We want to thank the community for always supporting our Warriors, and we hope this year's Homecoming week continues to provide fun for all!
