The Tennessee Tiered Supports Center (TSC), in partnership with the Tennessee Department of Education, has announced that White County Schools has received the 2024-2025 RTI-A+B Ground Breakers Award.
The Ground Breakers Award recognizes Tennessee school districts that have taken important and pivotal first steps in aligning their Response to Instruction and Intervention for Academics and Behavior (RTI 2 -A+B) tiered student support systems in partnership with the Tennessee Tiered Supports Center (TSC).
As the initial award level within the RTI-A + B District Model of Demonstration Program, the Ground Breakers Award highlights a district’s early actions, planning, and professional learning that lay the groundwork for lasting, impactful systems that will increase success for all students. Through self-assessment, action planning, and district-wide professional learning, White County Schools has strongly committed to building unified supports for all students. White County Schools is on track to become a District Model of Demonstration for RTI 2 -A + RTI 2 -B in Tennessee.
“It is great to be acknowledged for the hard work our teachers and staff are doing to support student success both in academics and behavior.”
According to Farrah Griffith, Supervisor of Supported Learning.
Behavior specialist Richard Bumbalough says “receiving this award is a true testament to the hard work our teachers, administrators and staff put forth on a daily basis. Our district is honored to have been chosen for this award.”
Districts like White County Schools are leading the way in laying the foundation for strong student support systems. We are excited to celebrate their progress and look forward to sharing their success as they continue the path toward becoming a statewide model of demonstration school district.
