William Luther Worrix, 82, of Sparta, a native of Pikeville, Kentucky, passed away Dec. 13, 2023. at Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital, in Sparta.
Bill, as he was known to some, and Luther, as he was known to others, was born Dec. 24, 1940, in Pikeville, Kentucky. Bill was the last surviving child of the 17 born to George Alex and Darkis Sloan Worrix.
He was a former coal miner and retired from International Harvester. Bill was a master woodworker and enjoyed making furniture. He served his country in the United States Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Jerlina Worrix, of Sparta; daughter, Lajeana Sue Howard and husband Bron, of Sparta; son, William Jeffery Worrix and wife Teresa, of Whitwell; grandchildren, William Justin Worrix and wife Sara, Sierra Dawn Adkins and husband Ian, Preston Alex Worrix; and great-grandchildren, Jimi Waylon Worrix and Aria Jade Worrix.
Funeral service was 4 p.m., Dec. 16, 2023, at Hunter Funeral Home, with military honors by the Veterans’ Honor Guard. Burial was in Worrix Family Cemetery, in Pikeville, Kentucky, under the direction of Community Funeral Home.
