Sparta-White County Chamber of Commerce hit the green Sept. 26 for their Golf Tournament, and the turnout was a big one. Multiple teams came to the Sparta Country Club to share a whole day of fun and competitive spirit.
For months, attendees having been preparing show off their skills, with some aiming for the prizes of the day. Jackson Kayak sponsored a giveaway of one of their best kayaks, and Edd Rogers Valley Ford sponsored a brand-new Ford Bronco. There was a hole in one challenge to win the Bronco, and plenty of folks were ready to give that one a shot.
Before the attendees set out onto the green, Chamber president Brent Young gave a brief speech in thanks to all who came.
“Once again, thank you guys for supporting the Chamber,” he said. “We greatly appreciate you and couldn’t put on this thing without your support.”
After those words of encouragement and gratitude, the teams got out onto the course. There were a lot of winners at the event for the various challenges, as follows:
First Place: Caney Fork Electric
•Kylie Crouch
•Kenny Crouch
•Bill Floyd
•Beth Underhill
Second Place: Mitsubishi Electric
•Jeremy Philips
•Rex Dale
•Mark Frasier
•Blake Rice
Other challenge winners:
•Men’s Closest to the Pin: Michael Yeager
•Jackson Kayak Winner: Michael Yeager
•Women’s Closest to the Pin: Kylie Crouch
•Women’s Longest Drive: Kylie Crouch
•Men’s Longest Drive: Mike Box
•Chipping Contest: Blake Rice
•Putting Contest: Deanna Maxwell
Sadly, nobody was able to make the Hole in One challenge, so the Ford Bronco remained unclaimed. Maybe next year a contestant can sink one in the hole, and that coveted prize will have a new one. Despite that, all the winners played hard and had a full day of fun. The Chamber, too, could not have been happier with the turnout and results of the event. The Golf Tournament is one of their most exciting events, and while it can get a bit hectic organizing it all, they love each moment getting to connect with the competitive spirit White County folks will always have.
The Golf Tournament is just one of the many events the Chamber hosts. Ribbon cuttings, community events, and collaborative efforts with the businesses of White County are their bread and butter.
To learn about future Chamber events, their Facebook page “Sparta and White County Chamber of Commerce” posts updates about future plans, and they can also be reached at their office.
