Chris Crotts Brown, 64, of Baxter, passed from this life, on Nov. 8, 2022, at Alive Hospice in Nashville.

He was born Oct. 9, 1958, at White County Hospital.

Chris was a friendly person to everyone he met and loved to make people laugh. In his spare time, he loved to hunt, fish, camp, horseback ride, and take trips on his motorcycle. Chris’ greatest joy in life was his grandchildren as well as being a loving husband to his wife, Jerri, for 13 wonderful years.

Chris began his career at Mallory Timers, but his dream was always to be in law enforcement. Chris then fulfilled that dream as a deputy for Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and White County Sheriff’s Office for 21 years.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents, O.C. Brown and Theda Belle Maynard Brown, and grandparents Shirley and Oma Cole Maynard and Lucas and Bessie Crotts Brown.

Chris is survived by his wife, Jerri Brown; daughter, Amanda Kinnaird and husband Wes; grandchildren, Caylee Bussell, Kylee Kinnaird, James Kinnaird; sister, Mary Judd and husband John; nephew, Jonathon Riggsbee and wife Kristin, Sam Riggsbee; niece, Whitney Slatten and husband Nick, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family would also like to express their gratitude to Alive     Hospice, Vanderbilt Critical Care, the Cookeville Fraternal Order of Police, Upper Cumberland Defenders, and the Auxiliary Fraternal Order of Police.

To honor his wishes, the family will spread Chris’ ashes over the family farm at a later date.

Crest Lawn Funeral Home, in Cookeville, was in charge of arrangements.
