Joyce Brown, 76, of Sparta, passed away June 11, 2024, at her residence.
Joyce was born Sept. 18, 1947, in Sparta, to James William Briggs and Lyda Hayes Martin Briggs.
Joyce Brown was a loving daughter, wife, mother, nana, and friend of many. She was a lifelong resident of White County and a member of Lansden Church of Christ over 45 years. She loved her community and church family. She worked in various capacities over the years while retiring from NHC Healthcare of Cookeville where she served as a bookkeeper over 20 years. She had great love and respect for everyone. She influenced many in her lifetime. She had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed traveling with her family and friends, but some of her best memories were spent at home with her fur baby, Otis, whom she cherished dearly.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded by her husband of 51 years, Joe Lee Brown; mother-in-law, Walkey Lee Cole Brown; great- granddaughter, Evren Lynn Wilson; and step-grandson, Neal Brant.
Survivors include her husband, Gary Wayne Beagle; children, Tonia Jo Wilson, Shawna Michelle Brown, James Guy (Diona) Brown; stepchildren, Lynnette (Darran) Lee, Paula (Derek) Brant, Christopher Beagle; grandchildren, Jonny Lee (Vanessa) Wilson, Jessica Wilson, Cierra Thomas, Kyler Brown, Abby Donnafield, Kayleigh Brown; step-grandchildren, Patrick Stockbridge, Preston Beagle, Alex Brant, Sean Lee, Mia Lee; great-grandchildren, Vayda, Dalton, Soren, Maeve; step-great-grandchildren, Charlie, Jenna, Oliver, Sophia, Mela, Russell, Landon; and beloved fur baby, Otis (the favorite).
Funeral service was 1 p.m., June 15, 2024, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, with burial in Saylors Cemetery. Ronnie Taylor officiated.
Pallbearers were Jonny Lee Wilson, Kyler Brown, Greg McCaskey, Ty McCaskey, Britton Smith, and Philip Luna.
Memorial donations can be made in honor of Joyce’s life to Happy Haven or Hope Lodge, in Nashville.
Oak Lawn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
