It’s always an exciting time to see seniors choose to continue their education or career past high school, and Lily Parker took that first step this past week. On Tuesday, April 28, Parker signed on with Vol State to continue playing volleyball.
The past year, as a senior, Parker has been one of the pillar stones of the Warriorettes’ volleyball team. Both as a player and a friend, she has helped push the team further and further during the past months. At the signing, her coaches spoke proudly about her accomplishments, attitude, and the promising future she holds.
Coach Farrah Griffith said, “One of the neatest attributes that Lily had on the court this year is she makes everybody feel included. Watching her include freshmen- sometimes there’s a fight among upper classmen, and they don’t bring the small ones into the fold, but that’s not the case with Lily.”
Former coach Logan Hicks said, “You couldn’t ask for a better athlete, student, anything. Always had a smile on her face. If somebody had a bad day, they could just look at her, and that day gets turned around. Couldn’t ask for a better person, love the young lady, and it was a pleasure being her coach.”
Lily Parker thanked everyone who got her this far in this sporting career. Her family, coaches, team, and all the others who have supported her during these half dozen years of volleyball.
“I want to thank my family for being there to love and support me,” she said. “I want to thank my teammates, every single one of you guys. I love you guys. Really, what made me love it was working with my teammates. My coaches, you guys believed in me and trusted me, and really made me want to play in college.”
White County can rest assured that as Lily Parker steps onto that college court, she will be representing everyone who has helped her along the way. Just as Coach Griffith said, she is a fierce competitor, and she will no doubt make her loved ones proud as she pursues her passion on the field and her education off it. Congratulations to Lily Parker.
