Martin Eans McDonald, 40, of Doyle, passed away Aug. 27, 2022, at Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital, in Nashville.

Martin was born Oct. 13, 1981, in Sparta.

Martin was, first and foremost, a family man. He took the initiative to transform his life in a positive way to better himself and to be a strong role model for his family. Diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia, he spent a decade handling his battle with dignity and grace.

He was a talented artist, a devoted husband, a loving father, an amazing son and brother, a loyal friend, and a good man with a golden heart. His legacy will be defined by his perseverance, the fighting spirit that allowed him to handle life's struggles, and the love he felt and demonstrated to others.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Frankie Yvonne Sparkman, and his grandmother who was instrumental in raising him, Dorothy Ruth McDonald.

Surviving family members left to cherish his memory include his wife, Holly McDonald; children, Kynedee McDonald, Kyler McDonald, Scarlett McDonald, Neveah Throckmorton, Hayden Throckmorton; father, Joe E. McDonald and wife Linda; sister, Julie Helmick and husband Thomas; nephew, Hunter Helmick; and niece, Lily Helmick

Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Aug. 31, 2022, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Steve Qualls will officiate. The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m., Aug. 30, at the funeral home.
