Schedule for Sparta’s Christmas Parade and tree lighting activities

Kudos to Sparta’s Rotary Club for getting the annual Christmas parade rolling.  This is one of the events held here in Sparta that almost everyone looks forward to.  One of my visions for the Christmas celebration was to combine the parade with the tree-lighting activities and have a most wonderful evening on the square in historic downtown Sparta.  Liberty Square will be busting with activity after the parade so you will want to stay and take part.

The schedule is as follows:

Parade Date and Start Time December 9 at 4 p.m.

Christmas Music will start at 5:30 at the amphitheater.  We have one of the best up-and-coming bluegrass bands coming here for a free concert sponsored by the City of Sparta.  Cutter and Cash Bluegrass will be performing.  The tree lighting will take place at approximately 6 p.m.  After the tree lighting ceremony, Cutter and Cash will then continue with a bluegrass concert for everyone.

On the square will be a Kid’s Zone for activities, and I believe that Santa may show u p for pictures to meet with the children.  All the events will be going shortly after the parade ends, and the celebration of a “Country Christmas” will begin on the square.

Please watch for the media announcements in the next few days.  It would be awesome if we could get every church in the county to enter the parade and help lift up the name of Jesus as we enter this time of the year when we celebrate the birth of the promised Messiah, Jesus.

I am excited about the parade, the tree lighting, the bluegrass concert, and all the activities that will take place that night on the square.  I am hoping you will join me at this event.

Be safe out there, and finish strong.
