Submit Names for Veterans Park

Posted

Do you have a veteran in your family? This is the perfect time to recognize their service to the country by engraving their name on the Wall of Honor in the Rotary Club of Sparta’s Veterans Park.

Any veteran who has resided in White County at some point in their life can have their name engraved on the wall. Veterans may be living or deceased.

Contact the Rotary Club of Sparta to have a name included on the Wall of Honor. Service verification (a copy of a formal discharge certificate or a copy of the DD-214 form) is required. Veterans of family members can seek assistance from the local Veterans’ Affairs Office to obtain service verification. A donation of $125 is requested per name to offset the cost of the engraving. Veterans who were killed in action, held as a prisoner of war, or are missing in action will be included on the wall at no charge.

Veterans Park opened on Nov. 8, 2014, and is located across the street from the White County Courthouse (on the corner of West Bockman Way and North Main Street). The names of veterans who served after 1900 are engraved with their branch of service and the period they served on large granite panels.
