Thurman Lee Mason, lovingly known to everyone as "Cricket," was born August 19, 1935, in Quebeck, TN, and passed away peacefully on October 21, 2026, at the age of 91.
Born and raised in Quebeck, Tennessee, Cricket was a lifelong fixture of the community and the son of the late Waymon and JoAnn Halterman Mason. He was a graduate of White County High School and a proud Army Veteran. He worked for over 30 years at Fleetguard in Cookeville prior to his retirement, though his heart was always on the farm. A dedicated cattle farmer, Cricket was a proud member of the White/Van Buren County Cattlemen's Association and was well known for his herd of Gelbvieh cattle. Cricket lived a life deeply rooted in hard work, land, family, and community.
Cricket is now reunited in rest with his beloved wife, Jane Hill Mason; his parents; and his brothers, W.H. Mason, Donald Mason, and Roger Dale Mason, as well as his longtime friend and companion, Ruby Roberts.
His memory and legacy will forever live on through his son, Todd Hill Mason; his beloved grandchildren, Dalton Mason and Hannah Mason, great-grandson Cole; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, community members, and lifelong friends.
Special thanks and recognition to his close friend and caregiver, Gail Judd. Gail worked tirelessly for many months to ensure Cricket's desire to stay at home was a reality. Her dedication to Cricket and the family will always be cherished.
