Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris announced March 10 that “Operation March Madness” was launched by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office after the grand jury indictment of multiple individuals.

According to a press release issued by Putnam County Sheriff's Office. the indictments come after the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force Unit and other law enforcement partners began an investigation approximately 12 months ago regarding the sell and use of illegal narcotics in Putnam County. This countywide, inter-agency operation resulted in the arrest of 14 individuals, on March 10. Nine additional indictments were for individuals already in custody by law enforcement when served with the indictments.

I am so glad that they got a couple of the dealers off the street. We had two men die in Sparta in less than a weeks' time in February. Sparta needs to wake up and do something about drug use in this county. The solution for users is not just throw them in jail, we need to require long term programs that hold them accountable. Dealers should be locked up and when someone dies from there poison they should be tried for Murder.
