White County High School administration proudly announces the top two graduates for the 2024-2025 class. These two students have excelled both in the classroom and extracurricular activities. Their achievements have been critical to the success of this year’s graduating class - the remarkable academic success and leadership these two young people have given the WCHS Class of 2025 is memorable.

The salutatorian is Sam Everett Dicus, son of Ashley and Amber Dicus.

“It was a great relief to finally know that I was the salutatorian for this very special class,” Dicus stated about his achievement. “It is an honor to be salutatorian and senior class president. I am glad to represent my class as a speaker at graduation.”

Dicus has built friendships and developed leadership skills as he has served the class as class president all four years of high school. His hard work in the classroom has proved to be rewarding as he achieved the award of being named the Salutatorian for the Class of 2025.

Dicus will be graduating with state honors, distinction, and TN Tristar Scholar. He also has met all four benchmarks on the ACT, Ready Grad, earned an industry certification (OSHA 10), and maintained a 4.0 GPA. In addition, Dicus received college credits by passing AP Language and Composition and SDC Pre-Calculus courses and has completed three dual enrollment college courses through Motlow State. He is a member of the WCHS baseball team, Drama Club, BETA, Spartan Voice, Warrior Media, 30+ Club, and Student Government. He enjoys broadcasting, journalism, and playing baseball for the Warriors. He has volunteered with 4-H and participated in Sparta youth baseball and basketball. Sam plans to attend college and is waiting on notification from his favorite schools; they will release their selections in March. He plans to major in journalism and hopes to become a sportscaster.

The valedictorian is Abby Kate Heady, daughter of Ryan and Samantha Heady.

“The first thing I felt when I was told I was valedictorian was relief - four years of hard work had finally paid off,” Heady said. “After walking out of Mr. Wilson’s office, there was a moment where Sam Dicus, salutatorian, and I just looked at each other and heaved a sigh of relief. We had both been anxiously awaiting the news and had nothing but happiness for one another.”

Heady is graduating with state honors, distinction, and TN Tristar Scholar. She has met all four benchmarks on the ACT, earned an industry certification (OSHA 10), and maintained a 4.0 GPA. She also received college credits by passing the SDC Pre-Calculus course and has completed six dual enrollment college courses through Motlow State. She is a member of the Student Council, BETA Club, Bible Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and was a member of the WCHS Warriorette Volleyball team. Heady is very active with her youth group at Sparta First Baptist Church and enjoys going on mission trips and serving at her church. She has also coached youth volleyball in Cookeville. In college she plans on majoring in Chemistry/Pre- Pharmacy. After completing the prerequisites, she plans on getting a Doctorate of Pharmacy. Her goal is to pursue a career in Pharmacy with hopes of one day becoming a Certified Diabetes Educator to work with other type one diabetic like herself. She will finalize her decision on where she will attend college in the fall.

Heady and Dicus will be featured speakers, on May 16, 2025, at the 2025 Graduation Ceremony. The ceremony will be at WCHS Football Stadium.
