Visit the Farmer’s Market for local produce

Posted

The Sparta/White County Farmers’ Market is officially open at Metcalf Park, in Sparta.  The market is open every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday throughout the growing season.  Most vendors are in place and ready for business by 6 a.m.  Buyers need to get there early for best selections.

Most vegetable producers have reported that crops are coming along, and they expect to soon have a variety of vegetables that are ready for the market.  So, be watching for local produce from local gardeners!  All local gardeners and producers are encouraged to participate in the market.  There are no fees to sell at the market.  To sell at the market, all vendors must acquire a permit through the City of Sparta.

This market is a joint effort between the City of Sparta, White County, UT Extension, and local producers. Metcalf Park is located downtown off South Church Street, just behind the UT Extension office.

For further information, you may contact the UT Extension Office at (931) 836-3348.
