Tuesday was a big night for the White County High School soccer program. They opened the 2025 season on the road and began a quest to reach second-year head coach Madison Mason’s goal of improving on last season’s overall stats by scoreing more goals and allowing less of their opponents' shots to reach the back of the net.
That is exactly what they did as the Warriorettes outscored Bledsoe County by a score of 8 to 1 in their first official game of the year.
“It’s the first time in recent years that the program has scored eight goals in one game,” Mason said. “This was a big win for us!”
It was Makayla Sullivan leading the way for the Warriorettes as she found the net four times on Tuesday night. Seniors Amia Heath (2) and Katie Blakeman (1) added a combined three goals to the scoreboard while sophomore Hannah Rabchenia rounded out the scoring when she found the back of the net once.
The Warriorette defense, led by Blakeman in the backfield, did their job as well. Kylie Allen, White County’s sophomore keeper, was a wall in front of the goal, letting just one ball slip past her over the course of the 80-minute game.
“Sparta soccer is known as a defensive team, but I believe we can be just as dangerous on offense,” Mason said. “The girls proved that tonight.”
The Warriorettes will play their home opener on Thursday night when they face York. They will then head back out on the road next week to take on Jackson County on Tuesday before they begin district play next Thursday at Stone Memorial.
