The White County High School girls’ basketball program started the 2025-26 season off with three quick wins on the road. After a win at Pearl Cohn in Nashville, on Nov. 20, the Warriorettes headed east where they played two games on Saturday, taking wins over Powell and Farragut.

The Warriorettes started the season off with a nine-point win over the Pearl Cohn Firebirds. Things were close in the first half with the Warriorettes having a slim three-point lead in the first quarter and extending it to five by halftime. White County added four more points to their lead in the third quarter before both teams scoring 17 in the final frame giving the Warriorettes a 57-48 win in their season opener.

Sophomore Kylee Norris led the way for White County in the first game of the year. Norris went 7-for-10 from the floor to score 21 points while pulling down eight rebounds. Ashlyn Selby, making her return from an injury that sidelined her since last December, went a perfect 4-for-4 from behind the arch to score 12 points during the game in Nashville. Seniors Bella Worthington and Lakelyn Grasty scored seven- and six-points respectively, while Gracie Clark added four and Kyra Fox scored three points. Rounding out the scoring for the Warriorettes were Kaylee Sanders and Taegan Angell who added two points apiece.

On Saturday, the Warriorettes headed to Knox Carter where they played a pair of games against East Tennessee teams. In the first game, it was senior Gracie Clark shooting 70 percent to score 14 points who led White County. Lakelyn Grasty went 6-for-11 to add 13 points to the Warriorettes side of the scoreboard while also being credited with seven assists in the game. Fellow senior, Bella Winningham added 11 points. Norris had eight points, Angell had seven, and Fox, who was primarily a defensive weapon last season, added another six to the scoreboard. Selby scored just four points while Haille Floyd and Sarah Winfree added two each as the Warriorettes won 67-47 in their first game of the day.

White County’s success over Powell can be attributed to how well they worked together as a cohesive unit. The Warriorettes tallied 18 assists in the game – the most they’ve posted since December 2024.

The Warriorettes made it a perfect weekend when they took a 64-51 win over Farragut in their second game of the day. White County had three players score double digits in the game, with Winningham leading the way with 18 points and six rebounds. Selby, who scored 12 points, was close to a double-double, pulling down nine boards. Grasty also scored 12 points, while Clark and Norris recorded seven points apiece with Clark bulling down nine rebounds as well. Angell and Fox completed the scoring for White County with five and three points respectively.

It was a strong start to the season for a White County team who found its way to the state tournament last season and hopes to make it back to the Glass House, in March.
