White County High School flag football improves to 5-0

The White County High School flag football team played two games, on Tuesday, and the Warriorettes took the win in both games.

The first game was a close one with the Warriorettes coming out on top of Gordonsville 33-26. CallieAnna Griggs was the name being called out repeatedly as she had six carries for 185 yards and two touchdowns. She also completed three of six passes for another 53 yards. One of Griggs’ passes was good for another score as she completed the pass to freshman Sarah Kate Winfree, who had two catches for 46 yards in the game.

Senior Kennedy Billings-Sullivan added two to the scoreboard as she had two runs for a total of 49 yards and a touchdown while sophomore Quinn Davis found the endzone on one of her two runs as well. On defense, Katie Blakeman and Breanna Powell each snagged an interception off of the Tigers’ quarterback.

The second game saw a much bigger gap on the scoreboard with White County defeating Bledsoe County 33-6.

It was Griggs again who couldn’t be stopped. The senior ran for 146 yards and three scores on just four carries. She also completed three of five passes for 42 yards and two more touchdowns. This time it was Davis who joined Winfree on catching scoring passes. Winfree also ran in for a score to make it a three-touchdown night for the freshman.

Senior Kirsha Patel was a standout on defense, notching six tackles. Anna Armstrong recorded three tackles and Paula Marin had two.

Next up for White County is Stone Memorial who is also undefeated. The Lady Panthers have a record of 9-0 and have only been scored on in two of those games, giving up 13 points to Van Buren County and 18 to Warren County.
