White County High School JROTC cadets recently traveled to Rhea County High School to compete in an intense Raider competition against teams from across the region. The event tested each team’s physical endurance, teamwork, and leadership under pressure, with three main events that challenged cadets both mentally and physically.
The competition featured the One Rope Bridge, Tire Stacker, and Highland Challenge events. In the One Rope Bridge, cadets were required to construct a rope system across a simulated river and individually cross it using only their gear and upper body strength. This event demanded quick setup, efficient rope techniques, and strong coordination within the team. The Tire Stacker event focused on strength and speed, requiring cadets to lift, carry, and stack heavy tires into a specific formation under time constraints. Finally, the Highland Challenge offered a rugged obstacle-style course inspired by traditional Scottish games, featuring tasks such as carrying logs, sprinting with weights, and overcoming natural obstacles—testing overall stamina and grit.
White County’s Raider team gave a strong showing throughout the day, pushing through each event with determination and teamwork. Their hard work paid off in the One Rope Bridge, where they earned a 3rd place trophy. The cadets’ ability to communicate effectively and stay focused under pressure made the difference and brought pride to their school and program.
The competition served as an excellent opportunity for the cadets to build on their skills and represent White County High School with honor. With a new personal record for the One Rope Bridge, 2 minutes and 5 seconds, along with a trophy in hand and valuable experience gained, the team looks forward to future Raider challenges and continued success.
