The White County High School Warriorettes took a 3-1 loss on Tuesday night when they hosted the Cumberland County Lady Jets. The loss was the first of the season for the Warriorettes who now stand at 3-1-1 overall and 1-1 in the district.

“We honestly got out played tonight. We know what to work on, and we are going to get better,” White County coach Madison Mason said after the loss. “I’m glad these mistakes happened early in the season.”

The Warriorettes were playing without their full lineup on Tuesday night as they are dealing with several injuries, including one to senior Kayce Wright. In addition to Wright, and sophomore Kaydence Redmon, the Warriorettes were short two more players who suffered concussions when the team faced Jackson County on the road back on August 26.

“Kylie still has a concussion, so Kady stepped into the goal again tonight,” Mason said that the first-year keeper has been strong in place of starting keeper Kylie Allen. “She has a lot of potential. I’m proud of her.”

White County’s lone goal of the night came on a penalty kick that senior Katie Blakeman successfully converted into a score for the Warriorettes in the second half.

"We will get it back,” Mason said about the loss. “We were able to hang with a strong, district opponent and keep the score close despite having people out of the lineup. I feel good about this team and what they can accomplish this season.”

Next up for the Warriorettes is a road game in Sequatchie County on Thursday night. Next week White County will face two district opponents, both on the road, in Watertown and Upperman.
