WCHS Warrior soccer falls to Cumberland County Jets in tough matchup

Posted

The White County High School Warriors faced a daunting challenge Tuesday night as they took on the Cumberland County Jets, one of the strongest teams in the district. The Warriors, entering the game with a 3-2 overall record and a split performance in district play, were unable to keep pace with the Jets, succumbing to a 4-1 defeat.

From the outset, the Jets afield, boasting a strong 4-2-2 record and a perfect 2-0 mark in district competition. The Warriors struggled to maintain possession and create scoring opportunities against the Jets.

The night’s lone highlight for White County came from a penalty kick taken by Joi Stepp, which found the back of the net. Stepp’s goal, however, was overshadowed by a relentless Cumberland County attack that resulted in four goals, leaving the Warriors with much to reflect on as they move forward in the season.

White County will head east on Friday when they travel to Harrison to take on Chattanooga High School in an out-of-district match.
