WCHS Warriorette softball outlasts Livingston Wildcats

Posted

The White County Hig School softball team traveled to Overton County where they took on the Livingston Academy Lady Wildcats, on March 25. Both teams’ bats were hot, but the Warriorettes came away with the 13-9 win.

White County took the early lead, putting two runs up in the first inning. Livingston scored one run in the third and another in the fifth to even the score. While the first five innings had it looking like it was going to be a low-scoring game, there was still plenty of ball to be played in the final two innings. The Warriorettes put six runs on the board in the top of the sixth inning and looked to be running away with the game. But the Lady Wildcats kept it close by answering with five runs of their own. Once again, White County’s bats were hot in the seventh as they added five more runs to their total. Livingston put up another valiant effort in the final frame, but they were only able to get two runners across the plate.

Kylie Norvell went 4-for-5 at that plate, including a home run, and three RBIs. Addison Howell, who went 2-for-4, had a home run and scored two runs. Anna McCulley was the other Warriorette with multiple hits, getting on base twice, scoring two runs, and recording two RBIs. Eight Warriorettes had base hits as White County put 13 hits and two walks in 38 plate appearances.

Mabry Taylor was in the circle for the full seven innings, getting the win. Taylor gave up 12 hits but just three earned runs and struck out two while facing 38 total batters.
