On Oct. 23, the White County Warriors secured a crucial divisional win against the DeKalb County Tigers, coming out on the better end of a 27-21 score at the end of a hard-fought game. This win guarantees the Warriors will host a postseason game once the schedule is set.
Head coach Curtis Beaty reflected on the significance of the win, stating, “Getting a win is always great in this region, but to get one on the road to secure the 2 seed with the notable injuries we had speaks volumes about these kids!”
Both teams battled fiercely, with each scoring a touchdown in the first three quarters. The Warriors maintained their edge with a final touchdown in the fourth quarter. The standout performance came from the White County defense, which effectively shut down the Tigers in the final quarter, preventing them from scoring and giving White County the win.
Key statistics from the game said a lot about the Warriors’ run game. Isaiah Kelso led the charge with 14 carries for 151 yards and one touchdown, while Demarious Dowell contributed significantly with 13 carries for 120 yards and a touchdown. Antonio Purvis added to the score with a two-carry, 26-yard performance, including one touchdown. In the passing game, quarterback Tripp Pinion completed one pass for 38 yards, connecting with Richmond for a touchdown.
“Senior night is a special night,” Beaty emphasized the importance of this occasion. “We get to recognize a senior class that has a successful season and careers.”
