White County High School Warriors kicked off their football season with a resounding 42-17 victory over the Silverdale Academy Seahawks in an exciting non-conference matchup, on Aug. 23, 2024. The game, held at Dee Harris Field, saw a spirited crowd rally behind the home team, which showcase both strong offensive and defensive performances.

“I’m really pleased with how our guys finished the game,” Warriors’ head coach Curtis Beaty said after the win. “We had production from numerous players on both offense and defense.”

The Warriors (1-0) struck early and maintained their momentum throughout the game. Quarterback Tripp Pinion led the charge, completing 15 of 16 passes for 239 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also contributed on the ground, rushing for 104 yards on 14 carries, including a touchdown.

The rushing attack was bolstered by key performances from Cole Sims, who added 60 yards and a touchdown on 6 carries, and Isaiah Kelso, who found the end zone twice with 15 rushing yards. The Warriors’ offensive strategy proved effective, with 6 touchdowns scored in total, showcasing their versatility and depth.

On the receiving end, Antonio Purvis and Demo Dowell were standout performers, with Purvis making 7 catches for 61 yards and Dowell hauling in 2 touchdowns on just 2 receptions, totaling 86 yards. Gage Stepheson and Cole Sims also contributed significantly, ensuring the Warriors had multiple threats on the field.

Defensively, the Warriors were equally impressive, creating three turnovers that stifled Silverdale’s efforts.

“We did a good job on defense, creating turnovers when it mattered,” Beaty noted. “However, with all the good stuff that happened, we still have things to work on. Non-effort penalties have to be cut out.”

Looking ahead, the Warriors will prepare for their next matchup against Warren County, who will be searching for their first win after falling to DeKalb County in their opener. This game is set for 7 p.m., Aug. 30, at Dee Harris Field. The Pioneers, carrying a 0-1 record, will be looking to bounce back, but the Warriors are eager to build on their momentum from Aug. 23 win.
