WCHS Warriors host pre-season scrimmage

The White County High School Warrior football team made their return to Dee Harris Field, on Aug. 9, as they hosted a pre-season scrimmage, and Coach Curtis Beaty shared his excitement about the return of the teams’ fans, describing the electric atmosphere as one of the most vibrant in Tennessee for a high school football game. Beaty expressed his gratitude for the loyal Warrior fans whose unwavering support plays a crucial role in boosting the team’s performance and morale.

[We] loved having fans back at Dee Harris field,” Beaty said after the great turnout for the Warriors’ pre-season scrimmage. “This is one of the best places in Tennessee on a Friday night.”

While scores and stats don’t matter for a scrimmage, Coach Beaty commended his players for their exceptional attitude and dedication on the field, on Aug. 9, as they hosted Clay County and Kingston for their second scrimmage of the summer. He explained the value of the opportunities provided through a scrimmage as pivotal moments for evaluating the team’s progress, pinpointing areas for enhancement, and celebrating the strides already made. Beaty emphasized the significance of these reflective periods in molding the team’s collective growth and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the Warrior football program.

As the Warriors gear up for the fall season, which will begin Aug. 23, Coach Beaty emphasized the pivotal role of the upcoming Jamboree in Chattanooga, on Aug. 16, as the final preparation before the official games kick off. He reiterated the team’s shared objective of delivering a stellar performance, with a keen focus on showcasing polished skills while prioritizing player safety and injury prevention.

“Jamboree is the last dress rehearsal before the games start counting,” Beaty said, “so we want to look sharp and get out injury free.”

With the team diligently solidifying their strategies and sharpening their skills during this critical phase, they are poised to start the new season with renewed confidence and determination, spurred by the invaluable lessons learned and the significant progress achieved through the pre-season games.
