The White County Middle School Warriors faced their first defeat of the season, on March 21, as they were overwhelmed by the DeKalb County Tigers in a lopsided match that ended with a score of 10-1.
Entering the game, both teams boasted undefeated records. However, the Warriors quickly found themselves outmatched by the DeKalb County squad. Braxton Jones was the lone scorer for the Warriors, finding the back of the net in what was otherwise a challenging game for the team. Despite the scoreline, the Warriors showed resilience and determination, with goalkeeper Cager Swift delivering an impressive performance, racking up 13 saves to keep the game from getting even more out of hand.
“The DeKalb County team is really good and has the potential to win the district tournament in May,” said Warriors’ head coach Justin Rittenberry. “We’ve got some work to do if we want to be able to compete with the better teams in our district, but I’m confident we can bounce back.”
