The White County Middle School Warriors’ baseball team had a productive spring break, coming away with two convincing victories against Stone Memorial.
On March 11, the Warriors took the field, winning decisively with a score of 13-0. Right from the start, they demonstrated their offensive strength. Jack Dicus and Riley Howell led the charge with two hits each, making significant contributions to the team’s scoring.
Brennan Burchett added to the offensive onslaught with a hit, while Evan Nicholas also made an impact with a hit and two RBIs. Maddux Yott and Casen Goodwin each recorded a hit, with Goodwin driving in two runs. Mason Seibers also contributed with an RBI, proving that the Warriors’ batting lineup is strong from top to bottom.
On the mound, Clay Brewington pitched five innings that left the opposition struggling. He allowed only three hits and did not give up any runs, showing off his control with one walk and five strikeouts.
The Warriors carried their momentum into the March 13 rematch against Stone Memorial, and, while they did allow the Panthers to put runs on their side of the scoreboard, once again it was a lopsided win for White County, this time with an 11-2 scoreline. The team’s batting continued to shine, with Burchett standing out at the plate. He recorded two hits, including a double, and drove in an impressive five runs.
Brewington proved his versatility with another two hits. Jack Dicus added two hits and one RBI to the mix. Ryder Staggs made a notable contribution as well, hitting a double and bringing in two runs, while Seibers and Goodwin each added hits to keep the pressure on Stone Memorial.
On the pitching side, Burchett started the day on the mound, allowing one run while recording a strikeout in just one inning. Seibers then stepped in for two innings, delivering a stellar performance that included three strikeouts and no runs allowed. Howell rounded out Thursday’s pitching effort with two innings of his own, giving up one run while matching Seibers with three strikeouts.
With these two wins, the Warriors now boast an overall record of 4-1 and a conference record of 3-1.
