FFA members learn skills for leadership at camp

Posted

The White County FFA Chapter took 10 members to Tennessee FFA State Leadership Development Camp, at Camp Clements, in Doyle.

Members spent the week of June 17-21, 2024, at the camp to develop their leadership and teamwork skills. The members had classes they attended based on their FFA officer position or knowledge of FFA, and the classes helped broaden the members’ knowledge and skills needed to fulfill their positions. They had opportunities to participate in team-building exercises like the ropes courses where members had to work together to get everyone through the obstacles and games.   Members had opportunities to participate in sports and games like volleyball, basketball, softball, and cornhole. The members had

chances to bond with other chapters from across Tennessee and the FFA State officers. Some of the members were picked to lower the American flag at dinner and got to greet the other chapters for breakfast.

Members also participated in Quiz Bowl, Quiz Contest, and won the “Spirit Stump” on Thursday evening. There were some fun activities that did not involve competition, like the rifle range or kayaking.

To sum up, FFA camp member Isabella Sackett said, “It was a great learning experience, and I’m grateful for the friendships I made while I was there - something I will never forget!”
