The White County Middle School baseball team has been on a winning streak lately. On April 8, the Warriors secured three wins, bringing their overall record to 10-5 and a commendable 6-4 in conference play.
The Warriors faced Algood in an away game, dominating with a com-manding 11-1 victory. Clay Brewington led the charge with an outstand-ing performance, racking up two hits, including a home run, and driving in five runs. Casen Goodwin added two hits, while Mason Seibers, Mad-dux Yott, and Riley Howell notched one hit and one RBI apiece. Brennan Burchett and Jack Dicus each added an RBI, while Casen Goodwin had a pair of hits, and Ryder Staggs added the Warriors’ eighth hit. On the mound, Seibers pitched five strong innings, allowing only two hits and one unearned run while striking out four batters.
The Warriors continued their winning ways, on April 10, once again fac-ing Algood, this time at home. The game was a nail-biter, ending with the narrowest of margins: 1-. Jack Dicus was instrumental, delivering two hits, while Clay Brewington contributed the game-winning RBI, along with one hit. Goodwin also added a hit. On the pitching front, Brewington excelled, throwing five innings with just one hit allowed and striking out an impressive nine batters.
Wrapping up the week, the team took on Overton County, on April 11, and clinched a 6-3 victory. Staggs stood out with a hit and two RBIs, while Brewington contributed with a hit and an RBI. Seibers and Yott each added a hit, while Burchett recorded another RBI. Riley Howell earned the win on the mound, pitching four innings with three hits and two earned runs while striking out six. Burchett closed the game with a solid inning, recording two strikeouts for the save.
