WCMS Warriors dominate Fentress County

Tristan Cavanah named player of the game

The White County Middle School Warriors put on a stellar performance on Aug. 8  as they secured a commanding 38-14 victory over Fentress County, advancing to 2-0 early in the season.

 In a game characterized by exceptional play in both the passing and rushing game, the Warriors’ offense proved to be a force to be reckoned with. The team amassed a total of 150 passing yards and 156 rushing yards, while limiting their opponents to just a mere 75 yards in total yardage throughout the game.

 Grant Austin led the passing game with 9 completions on 12 attempts, amassing 148 yards and throwing 2 touchdowns. Ben Walker also contributed to the aerial assault with 2 completions on 2 attempts, gaining 3 yards. Despite not throwing much, Walker’s perfect passing game resulted in a touchdown.

Tristan Cavanah stood out with 86 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Nation England added 42 yards and 2 touchdowns to the scoreboard. Reece Wallace, Brennan Burchett, and Blaine Floyd also made valuable contributions to the team’s receiving yardage.

 On the ground, Burchett led the rushing game with 59 yards, followed closely by Clay Brewington with 58 yards, Walker with 40 yards. Eli Sims added 2 yards to the team’s total rushing yardage.

 On defense, Brewington put on a clinic with 4 tackles and 3 tackles for loss (TFL), while Jayce Will, Eli Sims, Burchett, Walker, Julius Davis, Tristan Cavanah, Reece Wallace, and Ty Baker all made significant defensive contributions to hold Fentress County to just 14 points.

Cavanah was named the Player of the Game for his outstanding performance, which included 86 receiving yards, 1 touchdown, 50 yards on punt returns, and 2 tackles on defense. Cavanah’s all-around excellence played a crucial role in the Warriors’ victory over Fentress County.

 The White County Middle School Warriors have set a high standard early in the season with their impressive performance, and they will continue their season Aug. 15, when they host Smith County for their first conference matchup of the season.
