White County Schools achieve Level 5 TVAAS score overall

Posted

White County Schools are celebrating a huge milestone for both the district and the achievement of individual schools. The district achieved a Level 5 Tennessee Value-Added Assessment System score once again for the 2024-2025 school year, and a handful of schools reached their own Level 5 status.

The TVAAS is an assessment system that demonstrates where students performed academically at a single point in time. To calculate the growth and determine a TVAAS score, a student’s score is compared to the performance of peers who took the same assessment that year. Rather than give a single score on an end-of-course exam, the TVAAS attempts to track the students’ growth alongside achievement.

White County’s Level 5 score, the highest score on the TVAAS, means that students of the county are growing at a rate higher than expectations and that White County surpasses the statewide average.

“This is an incredible moment for White County Schools, and it belongs to everyone, from our focused students to our passionate educators and supportive families,” Kurt Dronebarger, director of White County Schools, said. “We are dedicated to providing the best education possible, and these results show that our collective effort is paying off in a big way. We’re excited to see what our students will achieve next.”

The schools that also individually achieved Level 5 status included BonDeCroft Elementary, Findlay Elementary, White County Middle School, and White County High School.

The TVAAS’s website allows public access viewing of district scores, such as White County’s. At tvaas.sas.com under the “Public Access” tab, visitors can navigate to the scores of any district in the state.
