Blood Assurance critically low on supply of blood

Posted

Max Winitz, the media relations coordinator for Blood Assurance, a Tennessee-based company that collects blood and plasma donations to provide to local area hospitals, has said that the company is critically low on two different blood types.

“Due to multiple trauma patients being treated this morning at area hospitals, the community blood supply has reached a critically low level,” Winitz said on Tuesday morning [Oct. 17]. “Bood Assurance is in dire need of both O-positive and O-negative blood donors to roll up a sleeve and be someone’s hero.”

Appointments are not necessary in order to be a blood donor. While individuals can schedule an appointment through the company’s website, www.bloodassurance.org, walk-ins are more than welcome at any Blood Assurance donation center or mobile blood drive. The closest donation center for donors in White County would be the center located at 155 W Broad Street in Cookeville.

“All this month, donors will receive a vintage Blood Assurance item,” Winitz  said, encouraging potential donors to not wait until there is a crisis to donate blood. “[Items include things] such as a t-shirt, coffee mug, cooler tote, and more.”
