Commissioners discuss July 4th

Posted

The May meeting of the White County Board of Commissioners lasted less than six minutes as the agenda was small, and the eight commissioners present were in agreement on each of the items presented to them.

After a prayer led by commissioner Roger Mason and the Pledge of Allegiance led by commissioner Lanny Selby, it was determined that, with eight commissioners, in attendance, a quorum was present and the meeting could continue.

The board unanimously approved both resolutions presented to them. Resolution 27-05-2022 Amend General Fund and Resolution 28-05-2022 Amend General School Fund was met with no opposition as both were general housekeeping type of amendments that accounted for transfer of funds for specific purposes.

With no questions or comments from the audience, chairman Stanley Neal asked for the board members if they had any old business to discuss.

Commissioner Cain Rogers asked if the county was still involved in the planning of the annual Fourth of July Celebration, to which county executive Denny Wayne Robinson said there would be a meeting soon, but the county had budgeted to help with the fireworks display and was still involved in the planning stages.

With no new business presented, Chairman Neal called for a motion to dismiss.

The next meeting of the White County Board of Commissioners is scheduled for 6 p.m., June 20, at White County Courthouse. On Monday, June 6, there will be Steering Committee meetings as well as a meeting of the Solid Waste Committee and the Budget Committee. All meetings are open to the public and agendas can be found on the county’s website.
