Farrah Griffith named new volleyball coach at White County High School

White County High School Warriorette volleyball team will be under the direction of a new coach when the season begins this fall. Farrah Griffith, a former Warriorette herself, has been named coach for the 2025 season.

Griffith brings a wealth of experience to the Warriorette volleyball program, having coached for 16 years in Warren County. Griffith was a high school assistant coach with Frankie Fisher before starting the middle school volleyball program in Warren County. Griffith and Fisher spent the next few years working together on both the high school and middle school programs. Under Griffith’s leadership, the Warren County Middle School volleyball program experienced 12 winning seasons and brought home seven district championships.  In addition to school volleyball, Griffith also coached 18U travel ball for the Coffee County Thunder for two seasons.

“I only stopped coaching when I became principal at White County Middle School and needed to devote my efforts there,” Griffith said, adding that she is eager to get back on the courts now that she is in a district administrative position rather than in the school itself. “I love kids! Working with girls to build skills and enjoy a great sport like volleyball is just fun. Teaching and coaching are both great, but the hours spent with girls and parents in the gym are special. Watching the growth and development of players is rewarding.”

Griffith will be teaming up with Brittany King to lead the Warriorettes this year, and she said they hope to be just what the girls need.

“I am excited to work with Brittany, and I think we bring good knowledge of the game and a love for the game,” she said.

Griffith and King have played league volleyball together for some time, so they interact extremely well.

“Since we both have job duties that are not like most teacher/coaches, we will tag team and make sure the girls have a great season,” Griffith said.

Griffith experienced what it’s like to be part of a winning program as a student athlete and what it is like to have a coach who stands behind you 100% of the time and is invested in your personal growth. Playing under Coach Lynn Cannon during her high school career, Griffith was part of a Warriorette volleyball team that had three state tournament appearances – including a storied undefeated season her senior year.

“Playing for Coach Cannon was a great experience and made we want to be a coach. After college, I found myself coaching against her for a few years, and she still coached me even as a fellow coach.” Griffith said. “Being able to play a part in the program she built is exciting.”

Now at the helm of a team that played such a huge role in shaping Griffith as who she is as a coach and leader, she is ready to get to work and is encouraged by the athletes she will be leading.

“These girls are super athletic,” Griffith said. “I was very impressed with how they immediately gelled at a group at tryouts,” she said. “I trust we will have success this year with those two attributes.”

Her goals for the team are simple: get better, have fun and win ball games.

“I want to give them an opportunity to make this season what they want it to be,” she explained. “I am a competitive person, and winning ballgames is wonderful, but working on improving daily and being good people on and off the court are most important.”
