White County High School’s flag football team demonstrated their strength this week, securing two decisive victories over Smith County in a doubleheader that showcased their offensive firepower and defensive strength.
The Warriorettes kicked off the night on Monday with a commanding 48-0 victory, establishing their dominance early. In second game, White County continued right where they left off and took home another shutout – this time with a 31-0 win.
The recent victories push White County’s season record to an impressive 9-3, solidifying their position as one of the top teams in the state. The Warriorettes’ success has been driven by a balanced attack and stifling defense.
Offensively, CallieAnna Griggs led the charge with another remarkable performance, rushing for 202 yards and setting a new career-high passer rating of 137.5. Sarah Kate Winfree was also instrumental, gaining 132 yards receiving and scoring a touchdown. The Warriorettes showcased their ground game, finishing with 333 rushing yards in the second game alone, continuing their trend of excellence when rushing for more than 200 yards per game.
Defensively, White County’s secondary was impenetrable, intercepting two passes—one by Carlie Lewis and another by Kennedy Billings—disrupting Smith County’s offensive rhythm and sealing both wins.
As the regular season concludes, White County stands third in the TSSAA District 5. Looking ahead to the playoffs, the Warriorettes are set to face Bledsoe County, a team they beat by a score of 33-6 earlier this season, in the quarterfinals.
