Coffee County traveled to Sparta, on Dec. 6, to take on the Warriors and Warriorettes in a Friday night basketball non-conference matchup.

The first game of the night was what some would call a “barn burner.” In the first meeting of the two teams, in Manchester, the Warriorettes would have to fight back to win the game after being behind most of the contest.  This contest would be some of the same.  Both teams battled, and the lead continued to change.  With Coffee County taking the lead and then missing one of two free throws down the stretch, they took a two-point lead with only seconds to play.

The Warriorettes got the ball into the hands of Gracie Dodgen, who fired up a three-point shot.  The clock hit zero as Dodgen’s three-hit the bottom of the net in a last-second shot to win the game.  The final score was 63-62 in favor of the Warriorettes.

Mia Murray led with 19 points.  Alaina Stiles scored 16 points. Gracie Dodgen scored 14 points.  Kendreah Reeves scored five points, and Kanden Reeves scored four points.  Morgan Quick scored three points, and Julia Curtis put in three points in the win.  The Warriorettes were 15 of 34 from inside the arc shooting for 44 percent.  They shot 42 percent from the three-stripe hitting eight of 19 shots.  The Warriorettes were perfect from the free-throw line hitting nine for nine shots.  The Warriorettes remain undefeated on the season.

The Warriors defeated Coffee County boys by a score of 71-55.  Grant Slatten led the Warriors with 39 points.  Masyn Winningham scored 11 points, and Tanner Paul added seven points in the win.  Kegan Dodson and Tucker Nash scored five points each.  Markeese Coleman added four points in the win.  The Warriors shot 43 percent from the field, hitting 22 of 51 shots.  They shot 40 percent from the three-point stripe for 40 percent.  The Warriors went 15 of 21 for 71 percent from the free-throw line.
