The Friends of the Library Fall Used Book Sale was a massive success once again. Every Spring and Fall, the library hosts a book sale for the many used books that get donated to them throughout the year. Last week, from Thursday through Saturday, thousands of books were available for visitors to buy at a low cost, either $5, $3, or just $1 per bag of used books depending on the day visited.
This year, the Friends of the Library earned $2,611.65 from the sale, and it’s no surprise. On the first day of the sale, as eager readers lined up to search for the next few months’ worth of books, it became obvious that the library had far more used books than usual. Inside, every inch of the room was covered corner to corner in tables overflowing with books. They even had to stack boxes under the tables on the floor just to get them all out there, and it still was not enough. For the first time, the library had to put some tables outside, three big tables worth of books, with a sign to pay inside once visitors grabbed what they wanted.
Library Director Cathy Farley was ecstatic with this season’s book sale. She said, “The Booksale is one of my favorite times of the year! It's a great time to see a lot of people that we only see once or twice a year, and it allows the community to get great deals on books they love. I am incredibly grateful to our Friends of the Library who have ran this sale for 28 years and for the community’s continued support of the sale.”
Despite the enormous success of this season’s book sale, the Friends of the Library are already preparing for the next one in the Spring, excited as always to continue supporting the library they love and literacy in the county.
