Minute with the Mayor

Question:

Is there a reason our trash does not get picked up on the set scheduled days?

Answer:

The city does everything it can to keep the set scheduled day for trash pickup at your address.  We understand that each resident takes an effort to get the trash cans to the road, and it is somewhat of an inconvenience when the trucks cannot run.

There is usually a good reason that the trucks do not run on schedule.  Some days the truck may have a mechanical issue that needs to be addressed and corrected before we can run the route.  We do have a backup truck, but it sometimes delays the timing, and we just cannot get to the entire route, but that is rare.

The most recent issue is that we just do not have anywhere to take the trash.  The transfer site where we carry trash from the city was shut down for some reason or another and turned our trucks away, and we could not dump the truck.  Thus, with nowhere to dump, we cannot run the route.

The landfill problem is a very serious issue that often seems to go unnoticed until the trucks cannot run.  Please know that we are doing everything we can to keep the trash trucks on the road and running the scheduled route.  There may be a time when the trash can needs to sit by the roadside until the next day when we can get to your home to empty the can.

Be safe, and finish strong.
