Minute with the Mayor

As the new school year gets underway, I would like to take this time to express my sincere thanks to everyone involved in the educational system.  As a retired educator of 33 years, this time of year always stirs up some emotion within my heart. 

The beginning of the school year brings about a fresh start for all.  For the teacher, the thought of a new set of eyes, as we stand before them, brings many questions to mind.  Rest assured, the students have many questions as well. 

As this school year gets underway, getting in and out of the school property can often be a challenge.  Each school has its own system of loading and unloading, so please make sure to follow the traffic patterns that have been established.  Give yourself some extra time due to the increased traffic at every location.  Most schools will have a traffic director on-site during the most traveled times to help with traffic flow.

Have a great school year.  Many memories will be made this school year, and, from the City of Sparta, we wish you all a wonderful school year.  Be safe out there.
