Rescue squad assists father, son, and daughter trapped by rising water at Rock Island

Posted

On April 15, 2022, Sparta-White Rescue Squad responded to Rock Island State Park to assist a father and his son and daughter (ages 11 and 14) who were trapped on an island after the water started rising.  Fortunately, the water level was such that basic skills were used to safely get the family back across the water.

“Thanks goes out to park rangers, Central View Volunteer Fire Department, sheriff deputies, and, of course, our volunteers that take time away from private life to train and be able to respond to such emergencies. Thanks everyone,” said Charlie Tollison, assistant chief Sparta-White County Rescue Squad and Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads vice president.
