Savannah Kelley, a senior at White County High School, has had an exciting year full of pageant crowns, cheerleading accolades, and all things high school seniors get to do before they take that first step into the next chapter of their lives. But now, Kelley will be adding one more story line to her pre-college chapter: she will be competing in the Tennessee Fairest of the Fair State Competition.
Kelley was named White County’s Fairest of the Fair at the county’s annual agricultural fair, in September 2021, and will head to Murfreesboro, on Jan. 20 to spend the weekend competing in the Tennessee Fairest of the Fairs Competition.
“I am so honored to be able to represent my county, and I want to represent it well,” Kelley, who will graduate from White County High School in May, said, “but I need help from my community now.”
Each year, the State Competition serves as a fundraiser for a Tennessee non-profit, and this year, the pageant, along with all of the contestants, will be supporting the Sumner County Veterans’ Home.
“We have been asked to collect items that the home is in need of during the weeks leading up to the pageant,” Kelley explained. “The Tennessee Association of Fairs Fairest of the Fairs class of 2022 is striving to help impact the lives of veterans in Tennessee.”
Kelley said that she is collecting the following items.
Kelley said she is collecting the items, as well as monetary donations, if there are those who would rather support her goal that way, through Jan. 18.
“The contestant who brings in the most items will receive the Humanitarian Queen award,” Kelley said, and, while she believes strongly in the need for more service-based projects and is proud to be able to be a part of a project of this scale and support the Sumner County Veterans’ Home, admits the award is a nice bonus. “I appreciate any help and would love for the entire community to be a part of this journey with me!”
